“We hear very little… but in our line of work, that’s only a good thing!”

Equalit supports eleven municipalities and a sheltered employment organization in West Brabant with digital solutions. In total, they manage over 3,000 workstations. Until recently, each municipality had its own Wi-Fi solution. This was not ideal from a management and technical perspective and also made it harder to guarantee security.

From custom work to one clear solution

The reason was concrete. Someone who worked at municipality A and left their job still knew the login password. This was not the intention. The security officers of most municipalities therefore immediately supported the plan to switch to govroam and Publicroam. Research showed that the security was solid, the ease of use was high, and the management burden would decrease compared to the old solution.

A smooth rollout in three steps

First, Equalit ran a proof of concept within its own organization. Initial problems were solved and things were refined. Then the rollout followed: on-site explanations, turning on new networks while the old ones continued to run for another two to three weeks, and finally switching off the old networks with someone from Equalit on-site for any questions.

The result

The three networks, Equalitroam, Govroam, and Publicroam, offer a high level of security. The management burden has become a lot lower, leaving more time for other IT projects. And the national coverage? “If I visit a neighboring municipality for a seminar, for example, I’m always happy when they offer Publicroam and Govroam,” says Richard Bastiaansen.
